Wedding season is about to kick off and I for one cannot wait! I am so excited to be heading out to some of the most wonderful venues and shooting my gorgeous clients’ special days. This has got me thinking. Norfolk contains some of the most gorgeous Norfolk wedding venues in the UK and I want to tell you all about some of my favourites.
Let’s get things off the mark with this stunner. Godwick Great Barn is one of the finest Norfolk wedding venues. Situated in the lost village of Godwick, this hidden wonder in the heart of Norfolk is sure to give you a wedding to remember. A unique, quirky venue with acres of glorious, tractor riding countryside, a big old lovely barn and a gorgeous farmhouse too. I love it here, the feel of the place is magical. There’s a wildness to it that invigorates me as a photographer and makes any wedding there a real treat! The team are amazing, a real friendly bunch of awesome people! A truly wonderful place and a firm favourite of mine. There’s some cool sheep too!
Ahhh, Hales Hall. A stunning Tudor brick barn and country house with grounds to lose yourself in. Only a few miles out of Norwich, on the edge of the Norfolk Broads, this medieval masterpiece sits in the wild open meadows of Norfolk, a perfect setting for a grand countryside wedding. Arriving, you cross a beautiful open plain, where cattle graze and buttercups carpet the ground in golden colour. Through the gates, you come upon the gardens. A delightful mix of Topiary-lined avenues and floral arches, richly stocked fruit and vegetable gardens and even a moat. Giant woodlands on one side and extensive Norfolk countryside views the other. The house and barn, dating back to the 15th-century have been kitted out with modern luxury whilst keeping the exquisite charm of this incredible estate. A real Norfolk Gem.
Back to the Garden
This gorgeous farm shop is a stone throw from Holt and an absolute dream of a place for a wedding. A farm shop, deli, butcher and a restaurant as well as the shop this place is brilliant for a wedding with a twist. A converted Barn on farmland, it offers stunning countryside views, artisan food and a really laid back place to enjoy your wedding. At the back, there are fields and views that stretch for miles into North Norfolk countryside. A real treat! Take a look below.
A North Norfolk cracker. Situated in Burnham Market and not far from the stunning North Norfolk Coast this gorgeous 18th-century barn is perfect for that coastal dream of a wedding. Sussex Barn is an eclectic mix of the old and new, showing off all those modern Luxe vibes housed in all its 18th-century beauty. The original barn is used for your big day, with extensions added over time to offer another perspective to your reception area and to accommodate guests. Oh, and if you like horses there’s a riding school nearby and, well, horses! Sussex Barn is one hell of a gorgeous place for you to create your dream Norfolk wedding. Also, just a little heads up, the food is exceptional.
Heading to the city now. Norwich, where I am based is, well, beautiful. Like, really pretty and magical and full of curious happenings and there’s a story around every corner. It’s my favourite! Whenever I shoot a wedding in the city I am one happy boy! North, is a cute cafe/bar right on the river. It has a fantastic atmosphere and the staff are all ace! North serves up vibrant food with punchy flavours and a modern laid-back vibe. Its decor is super stylish and a dream to photograph, there are gorgeous little details everywhere and the entire place screams joy! If you’re looking for an intimate city centre wedding then get this place booked! It’s ace!
Another trip into the fine city of Norwich here. This time for the historic Strangers Hall. Once home to Mayors and Magnates – Strangers’ Hall is one of Norwich’s oldest and most fascinating buildings. A labyrinthine suite of period rooms, from the regency opulence of the Georgian Dining Room to the intimate grandeur of the Tudor Great Hall. This incredibly beautiful building is a really unique place to get wed! There’s so much history here, the Medieval Undercroft dates from the 14th century. It’s hard to believe you’re only a couple of minutes walk from the very centre of Norwich. When the sun is shining and the garden is in its full, glorious bloom it really is a haven in this beautiful city.
The Gin Trap
Well, what a place. The Gin Trap Inn is a traditional and cosy 17th-century coaching inn and has a long and colourful history. It has been a public house since 1668 and the date 1667 can be found on one of the walls of the former farmhouse. A gorgeous Inn not too far from the North Norfolk coast with its unspoiled beaches and quaint coastal villages. It has played host to some wonderful weddings and the food is ace but what really shines is the GIN! With over 130 available you’re spoiled for choice here! They even have a little truck called Felix. Felix is full of Gin and knows how to party. A travelling bar, now who wouldn’t love that!
